MRI Whole Abdomen include two study of Abdomen and Pelvis.
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is a non-invasive imaging technology that produces 3- dimensional anatomical images. MRI is basically used for disease detection, diagnosis and treatment response.
MRI employs powerful magnets which produce a strong magnetic field that force protons in the body to align with that field.
Ae we know MRI has strong magnetic fields, patients with implants those containing iron like pacemakers, insulin pumps or any orthopaedic implants should not enter in MRI scanner.
During a MRI scan patient will lie on a flatbed that moved into the scanner. Patient head first or feet first moved into the scanner its depending upon the body part being examined. Patient should not
move entire study.
MRI scanner operate by a radiographer; they operate the scanner by using a computer. During the study patient will be able to communicate with adiographer by using a buzzer which will be given to the patient by radiographer.
In case of any difficulty patient can raise the alarm and within few second patient will be attend by the radiographer. MRI scans vary from 20 to 60 minutes depending on what part of the body is being imaged.
It is extremely rare that a patient will experience any side effects from an MRI scan. However, the contrast dye can cause nausea, headache or pain at the point of injection in extreme rare condition.
