Cancer cells generally have a high level of metabolic activity than normal tissue and use
more glucose. 18 F FDG is a glucose analog that is taken into the cell by the same mechanism
as glucose.
Pet scan is used for diagnosing cancer and its staging and also used for response
assessment for cancer treatment.
Patient preparation for Whole Body FDG PET CT
Avoid strenuous exercise for several days BEFORE PET CT.
Diabetes should be well controlled :-
Stop long acting insulin 8-12 hours before the examinations and short acting 2
hours of examination (if the patient is diabetic contact us for further information).
NPO except water 4 to 6 hours or overnight fasting.
Check serum glucose levels < 200 mg/dl.

individuals with prostate cancer.

Patient Preparation for 18 F PSMA Whole Body PET CT
Patient does not needs to fast and may take all their medications.
Patient should be encouraged to drink plenty of water to ensure adequate hydration
before PSMA PET CT.
Serum glucose level not required.

The aim of this study is to assist nuclear medicine physicians in recommending,
performing, interpreting and reporting the results of dopaminergic imaging in
parkinsonian patients.
Patient preparation for 18 F DOPA PET CT
Discontinuation of anti-parkinsonian medicine by at least 12 hours should be considered to improve image quality.
It is recommended that patients should not intake any amino acid containing foods prior to the procedure.
68 Ga DOTANOC PET CT
68 Ga DOTANOC PET CT
Somatostatin receptors are overexpressed on a wide range of neuroendocrine tumor cells
and it can be targeted using somatostatin analogs.
The development of the somatostain analogs dotanoc resulting in faster tumor targeting
and enabled for the use of positron emitters such as 68 Ga for radiolabelling.
The role of 68 Ga Dotanoc PET CT is to assist physicians in recommending, interpreting and
reporting the results of somatostain pet imaging studies for patients with neuroendocrine
tumors.
Patient preparations for 68 Ga DOTANOC PET CT
4 hours fasting is required (if needed).
It is generally recommended that prior to somatostatin pet imaging; patients should
discontinue all short acting somatostatin analogs 12 hours before the study.

and pass urine frequently to reduce radiation exposure to the bladder.
